first_imgDerby boss Lampard urges Hudson-Odoi to stick with Chelseaby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveDerby County boss Frank Lampard has urged Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to ignore the interest of Bayern Munich.German giants Bayern Munich have tabled numerous bids, of up to £35million.Lampard, now in his first season of management with Championship promotion contenders Derby, said: “I would like to think a young English player at 18, who has his nose in the first team and has incredible talent, will stay and will push himself into the team and be a big player for Chelsea and England.“Being close to Chelsea, I want him to stay there. It is a great club, a fantastic club.“He needs to stay there and work hard to get chances to play in the team. He has done that recently and he has played, and done very well in the last couple of games. Hopefully we will see more of that. I think it is a great opportunity for him to do that.“But in terms of what Chelsea think, what Callum thinks and what the interest is from other clubs, that is for them to sort out.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

He is helping us now as an important player.”We are going to work with him with him with calm, with patience, but if he deserves to take minutes and to take confidence for helping us with his performance, that is fantastic for us.” last_img read more

However, the club are already planning their January transfer business and will target Eriksen as they bid to strengthen in the middle of the park.Madrid’s current midfield trio of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos have been first choice since Zidane’s first spell in charge and the club’s hierarchy have made the engine room a priority ahead of January. Eriksen reportedly turned down a move to Manchester United in August in the hope of sealing a move to Madrid, and will be a free agent at the end of the season, meaning the Spanish club could land him for a cut-price fee in January. last_img read more

NC State QB: We’ll Beat Clemson If This Happens

(Photo by Mike Comer/Getty Images)NC State hasn’t knocked off Clemson since 2011, but the Wolfpack have come quite close the last two years.Last year, the Tigers won in Raleigh 38-31. The year before, the game at Death Valley went to overtime, but Clemson pulled out the 24-17 win.The two teams are on bye this week, but will face off as the two final undefeated ACC teams on Oct. 20, when they face off at Clemson once again. The Tigers are 6-0, after stomping Wake Forest last week. NC State is 5-0, but missed its biggest opportunity for a statement win, as the non-conference game against West Virginia was canceled due to Hurricane Florence. NC State will make up the game with one against ECU on Dec. 1, unless it is in the ACC Championship. That may very well determined this weekend, as the Tigers and Wolfpack are the heavy favorites to represent the ACC Atlantic in that game.Coming off of two close losses in the series, NC State quarterback Ryan Finley has confidence in his team to get over the hump. From TigerNet:Finley thinks if his team plays at a high level, they will hand Clemson their first loss of the season.“I think the bye week has allowed us to do some different things,” Finley said. “But Clemson is Clemson. We’re going to prepare for them like any other football team on our schedule. We’re going to watch film on them and see their weaknesses, and we kind of have a philosophy, and I personally do: It’s not really about Clemson. It’s about us. It’s about us executing what we do and what we do well, just doing that at a high level. If we do that, we’re going to beat them. It’s an exciting opportunity to have the bye week before these guys.”Last year, Finley had a mixed performance, completing 31-of-50 throws for 338 yards and three touchdowns, but two interceptions as well.He struggled more in the overtime game the year before, with 231 yards and two picks on 20-of-40 passing. As a senior, Finley is having his best collegiate season. Through five games, he has 1,621 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions, and is posting career highs in completion percentage (69.5) and yards per attempt (8.7).[TigerNet]last_img read more

first_imgAnthony Mix Jr. drops back to throw.HUDLAnthony Mix was a former standout wide receiver at Auburn, and an NFL player from 2006-09. His son is just a high school freshman, but Anthony Mix Jr. is already on the radar for big-time college programs.Mix Jr. took over as starter in October for Baldwin County, his father’s alma mater, and drew strong reviews from his coach after his first start. From AL.com:In his first career start, Baldwin County freshman quarterback Anthony Mix II brought back memories of his namesake father, running 26 times for 208 yards and throwing a touchdown pass to give the Tigers a 20-14 victory at Daphne and end a 13-game losing streak to the Trojans.“Tonight was one of the hardest games I’ve ever seen our kids play,” said Baldwin County coach Nathan McDaniel, a former Daphne assistant. “I’m so proud of our resiliency. Defensively, we played really well. We forced several takeaways that were huge. Our field goal kicker (Josh Burton) had two big field goals. A.J. had a huge night in his first start.”Baldwin County won that game, and finished the year 4-1 after Mix was installed at quarterback, for a 6-4 finish to the season.Anthony Mix Jr. is starting to get some college offers. Scott Frost and Nebraska football is the first Power Five program to do so.After verbal offers from Southern Miss and Memphis, Mix tweeted that the Huskers made the offer on Wednesday evening.Proud to receive my 3rd offer from the University of Nebraska❤️‼️ pic.twitter.com/oKSxpXKs4b— Anthony Mix Jr (@AnthonyMixJr1) December 12, 2018His decision is still far out—Mix Jr. is a 2022 recruit—but he has an athletic pedigree and Division I size according to his team’s MaxPreps roster, which lists him at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. He is not yet on the radar of the recruiting sites, but that will likely end soon. We’re going to see plenty of Mix’s name over the next few years.last_img read more

Late-Rising Linebacker Recruit Down To 4 Programs

Nebraska Defeated Idaho 38-17. (Photo by Eric Francis/Getty Images)Much of the Kansas recruiting scene is predicated on the state’s many big junior college programs. The state does put out some solid high school guys, and linebacker Dylan Jordan is one of the Sunflower State’s fast-rising prospects.Jordan is a three-star recruit per Rivals, but hasn’t been rated by the other services, so he does not yet have a composite ranking from 247Sports.That is a pretty strong sign that a recruit was flying below the radar.Even with the late action in his recruitment, Jordan is probably going to wind up at a Power Five program. He is coming off of a strong senior season, in which he racked up 110 tackles and double-digit sacks, per the Omaha World-Herald.He also got his grades in order, which is a big factor in schools getting involved late here.Dylan Jordan says he will be visiting Nebraska, Kansas, and either TCU or Utah as he approaches a decision soon.He will be joining one of those classes on National Signing Day in February.According to the World-Herald report, Jordan’s father is a “huge Huskers fan,” and the Nebraska staff compared his game to former UCF star Shaquem Griffin, who played under Scott Frost for the Knights.“Strongside linebacker, a guy who can play in space, and they said my role would be similar to Shaquem Griffin’s at (Central Florida),” Jordan said.Music to Jordan’s ears. It doesn’t hurt that Dylan’s dad, Craig, is a “huge Huskers fan” or that his grandfather was the high school coach of former Nebraska stars Grant and Tracey Wistrom. Jordan, a three-star recruit according to Rivals, is one of those late-to-the-recruiting-game prospects that gets a sudden surge of attention after their senior year.Nebraska signed 23 players during the early signing period, but could still add a few more guys ahead of National Signing Day. It sounds like Jordan could be in the next round of signees.[Omaha World-Herald]last_img read more

Nebraska Responds To Rumors About AD Bill Moos

(Photo by Steven Branscombe/Getty Images)The University of Nebraska has responded to rumors surrounding the future of athletic director Bill Moos.Moos is a relatively recent addition to the school’s athletic department. He took the job just 15 months ago, after eight years at his alma mater Washington State, where he helped revive the Cougars football program with the hire of Mike Leach.Prior to his Wazzu stint, he was the long-time AD at Oregon.Moos made a quick splash at Nebraska, firing Mike Riley and successfully bringing on Scott Frost, who had interest from a number of other huge programs. In the last few days, rumors that Moos could be fired, or resign from the school have popped up online.Nebraska system president Hank Bounds and Lincoln campus chancellor Ronnie Green released a dual statement of support for Bill Moos. From the Omaha World-Herald:“In his first 15 months, Bill has done a great job guiding our athletic department. He has our full support, and we look forward to his continued strong leadership.”A UNL spokeswoman said Green will have no further comment on Moos’ performance and was traveling out of town Tuesday. The joint statement from Bounds and Green was issued, the spokeswoman said, because of requests from two news outlets — one of which was The World-Herald — for a comment from Green.Bounds, contacted separately, said through a text that there was “nothing” to rumors about Moos. Both the school’s spokeswoman and the board of regents chairman also responded to the paper’s inquiries, saying that there is no truth to rumors that Moos is on his way out in any regard. It is interesting to see Nebraska rush to issue the denial here, on what are just rumors to this point. We’ll have more as it comes out.[Omaha World-Herald]last_img read more

(Photo by Scott Halleran/Getty Images)ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum has updated his personal rankings following Week 4 of the 2019 college football season.Week 4 featured a couple of massive results, as Wisconsin blew out Michigan, Auburn won at Texas A&M and Georgia got past Notre Dame.Finebaum appeared on SportsCenter on Sunday morning and updated his top four rankings. The ESPN analyst now has: ClemsonAlabamaGeorgiaLSUThat’s an SEC-heavy top four, though that’s not surprising coming from Finebaum. It’s also defensible, as Georgia and LSU have two of the best wins in the country in Notre Dame and Texas, respectively. Clemson and Alabama have looked dominant, too.“I thought about moving them up, but I thought they were going to kill Notre Dame,” Finebaum said of Georgia. “I’m going to refrain from my optimism. At No. 3, they are a fantastic team, and that was a big-time match.”Ohio State, likely just outside Finebaum’s top four, will get a chance to impress next Saturday, as the Buckeyes are traveling to Nebraska.last_img read more

Shortly after his comeback, Hardik faced a suspension for his controversial comments in a popular television show — Koffee With Karan.Nonetheless, the Mumbai Indians all-rounder has returned to peak form in IPL 2019 and is expected to play a key role for India at the 2019 World Cup, starting May 30 in England and Wales.”It feels really good to help the team win and to contribute to it. Google Pixel 4 image leak suggests a punch hole camera in front

first_img Shweta Ganjoo New DelhiMay 15, 2019UPDATED: May 17, 2019 08:48 IST Image Courtesy: Twitter/PhoneDesignerHIGHLIGHTSGoogle will launch Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 smartphones later this year.Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are likely to sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.Google Pixel 4 would be the first smartphone to get next generation Google Assistant.Google launched the Google Pixel 3a and the Google Pixel 3a XL smartphones on the sidelines of its annual developers’ conference – Google I/O 2019 — in Mountain View, California last week. But if you think that the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL are the last of Pixel devices from Google that we will see this year then you are wrong as the tech giant is yet to unveil the successor to its last year’s Google Pixel 3 smartphones. While it has barely been five months that Google unveiled the Google Pixel 3 and the Google Pixel 3 XL smartphones, details about its next generation premium flagship smartphones – the Google Pixel 4 and the Google 4 XL – have already started pouring in. And the new reports suggest that the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL smartphones would come with a punch-hole camera design – that is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus that was launched earlier this year.According to an image leaked on Slash Leaks, the Google Pixel 4 XL would come with a punch-hole camera with a dual camera setup in the front. This means that unlike previous generation Pixel smartphones, the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL would fall short of a notch in front and it would have an edge-to-edge full screen display. In addition to this, the report by the blog suggests that the upcoming Pixel smartphones would come with dual front firing speakers.A separate report by 91 Mobiles indicates that the overall design of the Pixel 4 smartphones would be similar to that of the Pixel 3 smartphones. This means that the power button, the volume control buttons and the SIM tray would be located at their usual spots. Additionally, the fingerprint sensor would be placed in the centre of the back diagonally below the camera. What’s interesting about this report is the presence of non-existent bezels – something that the image leak by Slash Leaks too has indicated.advertisementReports in the past have also indicated that the Pixel 4 smartphones would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and run on Android Q (no surprise there!). In addition to this, The Pixel 4 smartphones are likely to sport bigger 6GB RAM this year unlike the 4GB RAM in the Pixel 3 smartphones. However, a detail that we do know for certain is that the Pixel 4 smartphones would be the first Android devices to get the next generation Google Assistant that would be able to respond to your queries even when you are offline. It’s worth noting that most of these details fall under the category of rumours and hence should be taken with a pinch of salt. And we will know more about the two premium devices when Google unveils the smartphones later this year.ALSO READ: | Google Pixel 4 will be the first phone to get next generation Google AssistantALSO READ: | Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL quick review: Best of Pixel at relatively affordable pricesALSO READ: | Google Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL go on sale in India: Should you buy itGet real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story? Can they convert this 50-run stand into a big one? #TeamIndia #WIvIND pic.twitter.com/ocUcv1J3vtBCCI (@BCCI) August 24, 2019West Indies, who had headed into their World Test Championship opener on the back of a series win at home against England earlier this year, would be disappointed at having missed out on seizing crucial moments on Day 3.The hosts began the day’s play on a good note with overnight batsmen Jason Holder and Miguel Cummins adding 41 runs for the 9th wicket. In fact, Cummins frustrated the India bowlers as he stayed in the middle for 95 minutes without scoring a run while giving his captain good company. However, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja picked up the wickets of Holder and Cummins in quick succession to give India a lead of 75 runs.Horror shots from India openersIndia opener KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal were cautious in the lead up to Lunch but the latter played a horror shot to gift his wicket away to Roston Chase right after the break.advertisementWest Indies let Cheteshwar Pujara settle down but KL Rahul presented another opportunity to the hosts to take control when he missed a straight delivery from Chase while trying to play a fancy sweep shot.Rahane rides luck to hit 2nd straight fiftyKemar Roach, who has been the most impressive West Indies pacer, got them a huge breakthrough by going through the defence of Cheteshwar Pujara in the 31st over. Roach troubled both Kohli and Rahane with a fiery spell post Tea.In the 45th over, Roach forced Rahane to drive one on the up only to see John Campbell squander an easy opportunity at covers. Rahane, who top-scored with 81 in the first innings, was handed a reprieve and the vice-captain accepted it gleefully as he went on to make xx not out.Roach came back for one final burst before the close of day’s play and had Rahane trapped in front only to see the on-field umpire unmoved after a loud appeal. Roach wasn’t able to convince captain Jason Holder for a DRS review but replays showed three reds.India lost wickets at regular intervals but Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane hung around and made sure India were in the driver’s seat as the sun set in North Sound in Antigua.Spotless knock from Virat KohliKohli, on the other hand, made sure the early dismissal in the first innings was a rare blip as he played a spotless knock and finished with 51 runs at Stumps. He had hit only 2 boundaries in the innings but he played with plenty of control, giving no chances to the West Indies bowlers to end his stay at the middle.Earlier in the match, Ajinkya Rahane top-scored with 81 and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 58 to help India post 297 in the first innings. Ishant Sharma continued his impressive showing with the ball in the longest format of the game as he hurt West Indies with a five-wicket haul and helped reduce them to 222.Brief Scores: India (185/3, 297) lead West Indies (222) by 260 runs at Stumps on Day 3 in 1st Test. Lack of Romelu Lukaku replacement costing Manchester United after toothless showing at West Ham

first_img Reuters LondonSeptember 23, 2019UPDATED: September 23, 2019 09:12 IST Reuters PhotoHIGHLIGHTSWest Ham United beat a toothless Manchester United 2-0 at homeManU ended the game without an established striker after Marcus Rashford came off injuredManU were missing Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Luke Shaw through injuriesManchester United’s decision to sell Romelu Lukaku, who was their top scoring forward in the previous two seasons, without a replacement coming in looks to be one they could regret after a toothless display in a 2-0 loss at West Ham United on Sunday. With Anthony Martial and 17-year-old Mason Greenwood missing through injury, the visitors finished the game having to also cope without Marcus Rashford after the England striker limped off with a suspected muscle injury.Jesse Lingard was deployed through the middle as Rashford’s replacement, and the England forward is without a goal or an assist in the Premier League in 2019.In fact, the United XI that finished the defeat at West Ham had scored just nine goals between them this year.Should Rashford face a lay-off, and Martial remain on the treatment table, United could face Arsenal next Monday without a fit senior forward.Such a paucity of options makes the decision to sell Belgium international Lukaku seem ill-judged, despite manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defending the approach in midweek.”Greenwood, Martial and Rashford – all injured – Lingard is now centre-forward for Manchester United,” former United defender Gary Neville said.”You look at that spend, over the last six or seven years, of 900 million pounds ($1.12 billion) – just a little less than Manchester City.”And this is what they’ve ended up with? It’s incredible. 900 million pounds is a hell of a lot of money to have no centre forwards.”NO CONFIDENCEEngland striker Rashford himself looked shorn of confidence before pulling up with his injury and remains without a goal from open play for United since the opening day of the season.advertisementOther than Rashford, only Daniel James and the injured Martial have scored this term, with the team mustering just six goals from open play in the league to date – two fewer than Manchester City scored against Watford on Saturday.”We have had historically loads of centre-backs out with injuries. At the moment it is strikers. It happens in football,” Solskjaer said.”You are going to get highs and lows. There is a good atmosphere in the dressing and we have got the focus right.”Hopefully Mason and Anthony will be back for Arsenal.”The fact Solskjaer is depending on a 17-year-old with two senior starts for the club highlights the lack of depth in the United squad. The Norwegian has to be worried by United’s alarming dip in form since the initial positivity following his appointment to succeed Jose Mourinho last December.United have lost seven of their last 15 league games – as many defeats as they had recorded in their previous 40 matches in the competition. It remains to be seen where the goals to turn United’s season around will come from. Lukaku divided opinion at Old Trafford, and never really hit top form after signing from Everton in 2017.But taking out the Belgian’s his goal contribution, without bringing another proven goalscorer in, could be a decision Solskjaer lives to regret. For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
