Update: Emergency Management Department said the body has been found at Wellington Lake

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The drowning victim who was swimming in Wellington Lake yesterday has been recovered according to the Sumner County Emergency Management Department.On the Facebook page, the office reported:“The drowning victim who was swimming in Wellington Lake yesterday has been recovered.Please head the National Weather Service advisories and warnings…yesterday when this tragedy occurred, Sumner County was under a Wind and Lake Advisory.”The Wellington Police Department nor the Sumner County Sheriff’s Department have not issued a public statement. The name of the victim has not been released.The incident occurred around the hour between 5 and 6 p.m. on Memorial Day when a victim had allegedly drowned in the southeast cove of the Wellington Lake. Local law enforcement spent more than three hours dragging the lake hoping to find a victim. After darkness fell, the search was called off around 9 p.m. Wellington and Sumner County authorities are searching this area tonight looking for what could be a drowning victim.
