The Prime Minister said that talks are underway to ensure a political solution to the National issue through a new Constitution. The Prime Minister expressed these views while speaking at an event during a visit to Jaffna today. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the United National Party (UNP) is having talks with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) based on the proposals of the All Party Representative Committee (APRC).He says the UNP has not reached any agreement on devolution of powers but is only discussing what was put forward by the APRC, which was formed by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. However he said that a draft Constitution has not yet been prepared. The Prime Minister noted that the very people who backed the APRC proposals on power devolution when Rajapaksa was President are now against it.
